Flight Murmansk-Tromsø may be resumed
“The Government will decide upon possible support of the route Archangelsk-Murmansk-Tromsø only upon completion of the analysis currently being carried out,” - the Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov told Archangelsk media.
The Minister noted that the financial viability of this flight will be assessed in the first intstance, informs REGNUM.
“Transport belongs to services sector and shall first and foremost draw on the development of new transport corridors and their feasibility. There is a possibility of regional and federal funding, but we need to know the experts’ opinion. We are waiting for the analytics and statistics for tourist and passenger flows to be completed and will thereupon take the decision on possible state support,” told Maxim Sokolov.
The Governor of the Archangelsk region Igor Orlov underlined that the route hasn’t been closed yet. He told that operating airlines question the necessity of the route Archangelsk-Murmansk-Tromsø and the future of the route is defined by two factors: passenger flow and operating personnel. Only provided these are in place, the route will be fully operational.
We shall remind that in autumn 2014 the Nordavia carrier ceased performing flight on the Archangelsk-Murmansk-Tromsø route. Then the Russian Air Traffic Federal Agency temporarily authorized the Pskovavia carrier for operating this route and the flights were expected to start between 15-20th of November, but it didn’t happen.
