18.6 thousand travelers headed for Norway and Finland during New Year holidays
During December, 30 – January, 8 the Salla, Lotta and Borisoglebsk border crossing checkpoints processed 18633 travelers and 7033 vehicles. Last year these figures were 19520 and 7743 respectively.
During the New Year holidays the Salla checkpoint was crossed by 7123 travelers (against 7743 last year) and 2905 vehicles (3205 last year). On December, 30-31 and January, 2-3 the departure corridors were those mostly loaded, while during 4-8th of January most of the travelers were returning to Russia.
In the same period the Borisoglebsk checkpoint processed 7582 travelers crossing the Russian-Norwegian border (7792 last year) and 2766 vehicles (2750 last year).
“At this border crossing checkpoint there were equally high passenger traffic in both directions: departure and entering. On January, 2 departure corridors were mostly loaded, while during the rest of the holidays both travelling directions were equally loaded with gradual decrease of the passenger traffic. The highest passenger traffic was recorded on January 4-6,” informs the press service of the Murmansk Customs.
The lowest passenger traffic at Salla and Borisoglebsk checkpoints was observed on January,1 with 110 travelers entering Russia and 119 travelers leaving the country.
During the holidays the Lotta border crossing checkpoint processed 3928 travelers (against 3985 last year) and 1362 vehicles (1442 last year). Here on December, 30 and January, 2-3 the departure corridors were those mostly loaded, while during 5-8th of January most of the travelers were returning to Russia. The lowest passenger traffic at Lotta was recorded on December, 31 – January, 1 with 165 travelers entering Russia and 89 travelers leaving the country.
The Murmansk locals have posted on social networks videos showing a mysterious flash in the sky. Such light emission might presumably result from power line short circuit.
